Buying the correct quality tools for the job

You have a job that needs to be completed and you need a specialized tool for the job. Should you buy cheap to get the job done or should you splash out and buy quality?

Box of Tools

If the job is a once off, you should consider buying low range tools. I would avoid buying really cheap and nasty tools because the quality of work will suffer and you may not even be able to complete the job. By buying middle of the road tools you will ensure that you will be able to finish the job but also be able to use the same tool sparingly in the future. Since it won’t be used every day this shouldn’t be problem – simply store the tool in a dry and clean environment.

For tools that are used frequently it is worthwhile in investing in good quality tool brands. Often times, these brands will have life time guarantees and good support. Simply call the company if you have an issue with the tools and it is likely they will replace it – as long as there isn’t undue wear and tear. Keep your quality tools in a clean and dry environment, oil them as required and use the correct tool for the job you are trying to complete. Most of the time when tools fail, it is because they are being used for an incorrect job. Look after your tools and you won’t be frustrated when you need to get a job done!
