The Car-Rep Etch & Weld Through Primer 1K Acid 500ml is a chromate-free acid primer formulated to provide excellent adhesion and anti-corrosion protection on bare and prepared metal surfaces. Featuring active rust-protection pigments, this fast-drying 1K primer is ideal for sand-throughs to bare metal, spot repairs, automotive refinishing and welding applications. Suitable for metal, aluminium, zinc and galvanised steel, it offers excellent sanding and coverage properties while providing a dependable foundation for most compatible automotive paints, including water-based coatings.

Application Instructions

For best results, prepare the surface by wet sanding with P400–P600 wet-and-dry sandpaper where appropriate. Thoroughly clean the prepared area with a suitable pre-paint cleaner, such as Car-Rep Pre-Paint Cleaner, and ensure it is clean and dry before application.

Apply several thin, even coats rather than one heavy coat, gradually building sufficient film thickness. Thanks to the primer's quick-drying formulation, a compatible additional primer or topcoat can generally be applied after approximately 10–15 minutes, depending on application and environmental conditions.
