The Car-Rep Etch & Weld Through Primer Black 500ml is a professional-quality 1K self-etching acid primer designed to deliver excellent adhesion and anti-corrosion protection across a variety of metal surfaces. Suitable for steel, aluminium, zinc, iron, alloy and galvanised steel, it contains active rust-protection pigments to help protect exposed metal against corrosion. Its fast-drying, sandable and weld-through formulation makes it particularly useful for automotive bodywork, fabrication, panel repairs, restoration and partially sanded-to-bare-metal applications.

The Car-Rep Etch & Weld Through Primer combines surface adhesion, corrosion protection and weld-through capability in one convenient aerosol. Its self-etching formulation makes it particularly useful when working with exposed metal during panel repairs or fabrication, while the fast drying time helps keep refinishing projects moving efficiently. Once correctly applied, it provides a dependable foundation for most compatible automotive coating systems.

Application Instructions

Before application, wet sanding with approximately P400–P600 sandpaper is recommended where appropriate. Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from grease, oil, dust and other contaminants before priming.

Apply several thin, even coats to gradually build sufficient film thickness rather than applying one heavy coat. A compatible new primer or topcoat can generally be applied after approximately 10–15 minutes drying time, subject to application conditions and manufacturer instructions.

Important: Do not overcoat Car-Rep Etch & Weld Through Primer with polyester or epoxy products. Always check compatibility with the intended coating system before application.
